"November~15, 19~.

Gentlemen:
The Superintendent 'of the Fifth Lighthouse District called on me on November
and indicated to me that negotiations were under way for extending the _lighthouse depot
either to the north or south of the present site. This may require the closing of possibly
Lincoln, Henry, Randolph, Harrison and Wythe Sts. The Superintendent desired to ascertain
the attitude of the Oouncil relative ~o thesestreet ends.

Some yeare'p~s% the Council authorized the transfer of certain stree~ ends ~o th ·
Department under similar conditions and last yea~ when it seemed probable that the Depot
would be moved to Norfolk, the Council indicated its willing~ess to transfer the ends of
Lincoln and Henry Sts. to the Department.

The Depot is a valuable asset to the community and its extension would meant~e
employment of~a greater number of men and increased acitivities in this vicinity. I there~re

approp
