<br /> BE IT RESOLVED~ that the Cou~cii of the Oity of Portsmouth and the Board of Supervisors
<br />of Norfolk 0ounty, in joint session assembled deplore the ~gitation relative to the construe-
<br />tion of this bridge, especially at this time and that they deeply regret amd resent that the
<br />proposed bill authorizing its construction, involving such serious consequences to their fi-
<br />nano~l s~ud commercial interests, should~have b~ introduced into Oongress .not only without
<br />consulting them, but entirely~without their kuo~%edge, ~and
<br />
<br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that they urge their senators a~d =epresentatives to do all in
<br />their power to defeat this bill, and .
<br />
<br />BE IT ~JRTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution be given to the press."

<br /> The resolution was adopted, and the ~hair wa~ instracted to appoint a Oommittee to
<br />proceed to Washington to present the resolutions in person to our Senators and Representative.
