Brinson, <br />City Clerk & Auditor, <br />Portsmouth, Va. <br /> <br />read for the special meeting: <br /> <br /> ~Ports~th, Va., <br /> <br />Narch 27th, 1925. <br /> <br />Dea~ Sir: <br /> <br /> Yo~will please c&ll a special meetir~ of the City Council in the 0oUncil Chamber <br />Tuesday, March 3is$, mt 8 o'clock P. ~., to-consider'the petition of sund~y residents of ~he <br />Seventh Ward against the re-establishment of the Incinerator at its present location. <br /> <br />Very truly yours, <br /> <br />L. WHITE, President." <br /> <br /> The "call~ h~ving been read, the privilege of the floor wms granted to any one pres~t <br />who desired to speak on the subj.e~c~ under consideration. <br /> Messrs. T. E. Holland, stephen Long,~ Riley, Morris, Sam Beale, Bartlett, and H~ines <br />spoke against the re-establishment of the Incinerator at its present location. <br /> <br /> Then the Manager asked unanimous consent to present a communication. The consent was <br />granted, and he presented the following communication: <br /> <br />Honorable City Oouncil, <br />Portsmouth, Va. <br /> <br />"~arch 31, 1925. <br /> <br />~entlemen:~ <br /> The recent bond issue of $1~0,000.00 contemplated speci~icmlly that $30,000.00 <br />of this mmoun%was for an i~cimerator and $150,O00.O0:for sewers and I h~d proceeded on this <br />theory without, however, having incurred any~.liabiltties. <br /> <br /> Xn order to remove any question of doubt as to the appropriation, it is re- <br />quested tha~ $30,000.00 of this issue be appropriated for anincimerato~.~nd the bals~uce <br />sewers in the Sixth and Seventh Wards. <br /> <br />Very truly, <br /> <br /> ~.
