<br />to lease the Virginian Railway for a period of nine hundred ninety nine years, and

<br /> WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Oity Council of Portsmouth, Va., that such a
<br />lease would result in harm to the commercial interests of Hampton Roads and the Sta~e oS
<br />Virginia resulting in the elimination from Hampton Roads of many of the activities of the
<br />Virginian Railway, and

<br /> Mr. Brooks moved that the request be granted. Mr. Stewart (J.R.) moved as a substitute
<br />that the report and petition be referred to ~lnance Committee. The motion of Mr. Stewart
<br />was adopted, Mr. Brooks voting No.

<br /> State Oorporation Commission and the Gover~or cf this Commonwealth did on the twelfth da~ o~~

<br /> THEREFORE, be it resolved tha~ it is the sense of the 0ouncil of the 0ity of Ports-
<br /> mouth that we are opposed to the proposed lease.

<br />on hand from collection of Dog Taxes, bill of J. Shirley Hope, State Game Warden, to amount
