'On <br />D comber 1,. 192~, the City paid into court the sum of $5S,362.2S, which was the amount fommd <br />to be due the United States on the Government,s au~itmade on the Basis o5 a gross revenue <br />of $35~,2~3.1S instead of $324,000. as set forth in the contract. The United States still <br />~laims a Balamoe Of $S3,9~?.33 on the Rrincipal amount due it. At a conference held in <br />Washi~gton on last Saturday, Novembe% ~l, 1~25, at She office of Assistan~ Attsrney General <br />P~mento, the Department of Justice agreed that they would recommend a compromise of this <br />claim by the City paying 50%'of the above amount, or $~1,973.66 with interest ~hereon from <br />December l, 1925, until pat~, and court costs, l~ t~e compromise is accepted ~he City is <br />to allow a judgement to be entered for the above amount. <br /> <br /> ! respectfully recommend ~hgt the above pffer Of comprqmlse be submitted to the <br />United States without preGudicc to the r ights of the C~ty, in f~'ll gettlement of the claim <br />of the United State~ for interest it claims to be .due mmder the_above contract. <br /> <br /> Mr. Pau~ W.
