November ~, 1R25 At-a regalar meeting of the 0ity 0ou~Cil November 2~th .there were present: Messes-- Vernon Brooks, J. C. Smith, J. R. Stewart, R.E.B. Stewart, L. G. White, Also the City Manager. The minutes of the regular meeting November 10th were read and were approved. REPORTS OF OOMMXTTEES Referred November 10~h Recommendation of the Manager that a special appropriation of $3?5.00 be allowed-'to have Spec. electric motor ~ud switch board work at the market repaired. ~pp It is recommended that a special appropriation of $375.00 be allowed for this purpose. - Re. commendation of the Na~ger that a special appropriation of $50.00 be allowed to cover repairs to cars in the Department of Public Welfare for the remaimder of the Tear. It is recommended that a special appropriation of $50.00 be allowed for same. Recommendation of the M~ager that a special appropriation of $35.$0 be allowed to pay for services Of Dr. Thcs. E. Cast while the City Bacteriologist was on leave. Request of the City Nanager that the sum of $479.31 collected during August and September Sot street opening fees, be re-aporopriated as follows: 5-B, A-2, Labor, Repairs to Sidewalks, 2~O.'GG, 5-0, 0-% Material, Repairs to Streets, $1~9.31. It is ~ecommended that a special appropriation of $~7%31 be allowed, to be dis- tribu~ed aa requested. Commm~ication from the City Attorney recommending that he be authorized to settle for $~O0.~0 the four claims of Aahra~Griffin and others for damages to their half interest in the crops on the farm of J. ~. Johnson near Deep Creek occasioned by an overflow of water, said to have bee~ camsed by the ditch ~mt through Dismal Swamp by the Board of Water Com- missioners. Progress° -Reports of the 0ity Collector, City Treasurer, amd Oity Auditor for the month of October, We have examined said reports and it is recommended that they be filed. Repor~ of the Commissioner of the Revemae of taxable values of Real Estate, Tangible and Intangible Personal Proper~y ~or the Year 1~25, to amount of $~,?07,~6~.5% tax chargeable to the City Collector, Progress. Bill of John'C. Niemeye~, Commissioner of the Revenue, to amount of $%71~.~, as com- missioms on taxable property. It is recommended that a special appropriation of $~O3o56 Be allowed in addition the budget appropriation of $~500.0~, to pay said bill. Request of the Portsmouth Library Association for a new library ~a~lding, the southwest corner of London amd Cour~ streets as a very desirable location.
