June 22, 1926 <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Stewart, (J.R.), the communication was referred to Finance Com~.~.ittee. <br /> <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> A request of the 0ity 0ollector that Mr. J~mes Cuthriell be refunded $~.20 paid in error <br />on automobile license, was referred to the Finance Oor~ittee. <br /> <br /> A bill of M. ~F. L~b, 2100 Q~een St., ~ ~m~t of $11. OO~ for so~t dr~k license paid ~ <br />e~=or May 19, 1~26, as s~d party does not sell soft drinks, was referred to the Fin~ee Oo~ <br />mitres. <br /> <br /> Au Order of 0o~Lrt ~orrecting ~ssessment against Isaac Fass, <br />instead of $2~0,O00.00, and exonerating Isaac Fass, Inc., from payment of 0ity Taxes <br />of $110.43 thereon, was referred to Finance Co~mmittee. <br /> <br /> The following comm~uication was read from the Consolidated B~s 0orpor~lon: <br /> <br /> "Portsmouth, Va., June 22, .1926. <br />0ity Oomncil, <br />Portsmouth, Va. <br /> <br />Gentlemen:- <br /> <br />Inc., to $36,$13.21 on capital <br /> in excess <br /> <br /> We a~re writing to request of the 0ouncil a hearing before any final action is taken <br />by the Council in the matter of unified tr~usportation in this City. <br /> <br /> M~y we further request that reasonable notice-be given before date of he~ring~in <br />order that we m~y prepare our data for-presentmtio~ to the Comneil. <br /> <br />Yours very t~Iy, <br /> <br /> Oonsolldatcd ~s Corporation, <br /> L~ O. The ~otlon Was ~dopteel~ <br /> <br /> Mr. Stewart (R.E.B.) submitted the followi~ ordinance, ~hich was placed on first reading: <br /> <br /> An Ordins~uce to Amend and Re-ordaLuSection 502 of the Ordinances of the'City of Portsmouth, <br />~Virginia, as Amended by ~u Ordinance adopted the l~thday of Janus~ry, 1919, in Relation to the <br /> ~alary of the Judge of the Cour~ of Eu~tings for the Oity of Portsmouth. <br /> <br /> 05 motion of Mr. Stews_ri (~,~), it was resolved to elect a 0ivil & Police Justice at <br />-the first meeting of Co,moil in ~uly. <br /> <br /> Mr. Stewart (R.E.B.) moved' that the matter of s~lary of the 0ivil & Police Justice be <br /> referred to Finance Committee. Adopted~ <br /> <br />On motion~ adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
