<br /> An Ordiaance To Provide
<br />for the granting by the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, to the person or persons or.to the
<br />corporation hereafter to be ascertaime~ in the mode pressribed by.law, the franchise, righ%~
<br />and privilege to construct, maintain amd opera~e, by eleotrisity or any other m~tive powe~
<br />emsept steam permitted by the Oouncii ~T ~he~Oity'~of Portsmouth, for the ~erm and upon the
<br />conditions hereinafter stated, a street railway or railwmys, together with all curves, turn-
<br />outs, eo~uections, POle lines, overhead and undergrouzd wires, cables, conduits and appliances
<br />to t~e.used in the operation thereof or in connection therewith, upon certain of the streets,
<br />all~s and~ publis plases of the City cE Po=tsmouth, a~d the right to use said streets, alleys
<br />and public places ~hereinafter mentioned for such purposes.

<br />~r. S~ewart (J.R.) moved that the ordin~nce be adopted.

<br /> ~[r. Stewart (R.E.B.) moved tha~ the ordinance be laid on the table until the next meet-
<br />ing of 0ou~cil. The motion was adopted.
