<br /> The following communications were resxi from the 0ity Manager:
<br /> 1st. ~Rosa Clinton h~sap-
<br />plied for permission to erect a one-story frame store at the northwest corner of Key Road
<br />Dale St. in Truxtun. The site proposed for this structure is in a purel~residential section
<br />and ~lthough the written consent of all property owners within a radius of 200 ft. has been
<br />secured, it seems to me entirely inadvisable to erect the structure proposed. A sketch show-
<br />lng the proposed location is attached.
<br />
<br />It is recommended that the City Oouncil disapprove the request."
<br />
<br /> Mr. Brooks moved to concur in the recommendation of the ~nager. Mr. Stewart (J.R.)
<br />moved that same be laid on the table until the next regular meeting of Go,nell. The motion
<br />by Mr. Stews.vt was adopted.

<br /> 2nd. "The appropriation for advertising is exhausted and to cover eventualities for the
<br />remainder of the year 1~26, a special appropriation of $1,000.00 is recommended."
<br />
<br /> On motion, the recommendation was referred to Finance Committee.
<br />
<br /> 3rd. "I am enclosing herewith dr~ft of an ordinance requiring m~fflers on motor boats
<br />operating within the limits of the Oity of Portsmouth.
<br />
<br />Its pass~ge~ is recommended.

<br /> On ~motion of Mr. S~ew~rt (R.E.B.), the first section' of the ordinance was amended to read
<br />as follows: "That loafing in front of business establishments, where such loafing constitutes
<br />a nuisance or obstructs entrances or unnecessar~!y obscures display windows., or loitering on
<br />sidewalks in such manner as to obstruct traffic, is prohibited."
<br />
<br /> On motion o Mr. B~oo~s, the second sec$ld~was amended tQ~read as follows: '~Violation~of
<br />this ordi~nce will be punzshed by a fine of not less than $2~.50 nor more than $10.00."
<br />
