<br /> WHEREAS, It has been the policy of the Council of the Oity of Portsmouth to foster and en-
<br />courage the establishment of new industries and the extension of old industries; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, To accommodate this plant, it is n~cessary to extend the storm drai~ a~ the east
<br />end of Columbia Street a dista_ut of 76 feet at an estimated cost of 1375 dollars; and
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS ~he said Isaac Fass, incorporated, has agreed to make the said extension and to
<br />have the said Oity of Portsmouth to re-imburse him for ~he a~tual costs ~hereof, not to exceed
<br />the said sum of 1375 dollars after the extension of said .drain, and the improvements to his
<br />said plat have been made,

<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THIS AGREEMENT WITNESSETH: That in consideration of thepremises and the
<br />sum of One Dollar interchangea~lymade, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said
<br />parties a~ree as follows: '

<br /> let. The said Isaac Fass, Incorporate~, agrees to 'extend storm drain at the eas~ end of
<br />ColumbiaStreet in accordance with certain ~lans and ~necifioations prepared by the Cit~ Engi-
<br />neer of City of Portsmouth and under the supervision and direction of said engineer, at an es-
<br />timated cost of 1375 dollars.

<br /> 2nd. After the completion of said ~rain amd on certificate of Oity Engineer that its
<br />conS~r~etion _was in ~ecordanse w£th his plans and specifications and after the further e0mple~-
<br />ion of the said improvement to the plant Of ~aid Isaac Fasts, 'Incorporated,- at an estimdted cost
<br />of ~0,000 dollars and on certiffi~ate of the Bmiiding Inspector that said improvement has been
<br />sompleted, the City of Portsmouth binds itself to roland to said Isaac Pass, Incorporated,
<br />the actual cost of said d~ain net to e~¢eed, however, the sum of 13y5 dollars, and should said
<br />drain ~ost more than said sum of 1375 dollars the said Isaac Fass, Incorporated, agrees to
<br />beam said additional cost. ·

<br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS
<br />
<br /> The follOWing commhication from the Mamager, which had been 1/~id on the table until this
<br />meeting, was read:

<br /> "Rosa Clanton has applied for permission to erect a one-story frame store at the north-
<br />west corner of Key Road and Dale St. in Trmxton. The site proposed for this structure is in
<br />apmrely residential section aud although the written consent of all property owners within a
<br />radius of ZOO ft. has been secured, it seems to me entirely inadvisable to erect the structure
<br />proposed. A sketch showing the proposed location is attached.

<br />It is recommended that the Oity Oouneit disapprove the request."
<br />
<br />On motion of Mr. Stewart (J.R.), the recommendation of the Manager was concurred i~.
<br />
<br /> The following ordinance, which had been placed on first reading by Council August 10th,
<br />was taken up and read:
<br /> AN ORDINANOE REQUIRING MUFFLERS ON MOTOR BOATS OPERATING WITHIN THE LIMITS~
<br />OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH.

<br />On motion of Mr. Brooks, the ordinance was adopted, and by the following vote:
