<br />gular session, assembled, that 'the Mayer be, and he hereby is, authorized to enter into an
<br />agreement with the ATLANTIC COAST LINE RAILROAD COMPANY, and t~ sl~n same on behalf of said
<br />City whereby the said Railroad Company gives and grants unto the said City of Portsmouth,
<br />Virginia, the right and license to maintaim and operate the said water mains as now located

<br /> The regular reports of the City Treasurer, City Collector, and Oity Auditor for the month
<br />of September, 1926, were pre~ented and were referred to the ~inance Committee.

<br /> A petition was read from certain residents and property owners on Maple Avenue, requesting
<br /> that 0ouneil construct a sidewalk on Ma.Die Ave~e from the branch on the north ~o GX~erton
<br /> avenue on the south.
<br /> On motion of Mr. Mayo, the privilege of the fleer was ext%mded to anyone present who
<br /> might be interested in this matter.
<br /> Mr. G, F. Morris spoke in favor of the petition.
<br /> Mr. M. E. ~est spoke asking that the crossings at Duke and Attan~ streets bm improved
<br /> so as to give better access to and from the new school bmiiding.
<br /> Mrs. W. ~. Weodhouse, President of the School Leag~ae, called attention to some houses
<br /> on Camden Avenue that are in need ef repairs and ~ot fit to live in.
<br /> Dr. ~mnford moved that these matters be referred te the City Manager. Adopted.
