<br /> There is pending in the~ Clr~mit-Court of Norfolk Comnty a smit against the City in-
<br />stituted by W. H. and G. F. Brown. These parties claim to b~ the owners of about lye acres
<br />of land located on both sides of the ditch near Yadkin cut by the Board of Water Commissioners.
<br />They claim the:ir farm was flooded by water coming from the ditch in the summer o.f 1922, a~d
<br />tha-t their crOPs Consisting. of corn and potatoes was destroyed, and they are asking $i~,O00.
<br />damages for i~juries to the same. The case is set for trial on December 30th. The at%orney
<br />who institmted the suit has signified ~is willingness to compromise the m~tter for $750. provided
<br />settlement can be m~de at once. I believe it will be to the advantage of %he City to accept
<br />the offer, and recommend that ~he same be done.
