<br /> The undersigned, a committee appointed by,he Park View Neighborhood Club, reepec~-
<br />fully petition the city government'for assistance in establishing and equipping a playground
<br />in Park View.
<br />
<br /> We have the offer of a piece of ground at Anne and Owen Streets, which, if used
<br /> in connection with the Ann Street School playground, will prove ample for the pumpose this year.
<br />
<br /> ~rhmds for preparing and eqmippimg these grounds have been pledged by The!American
<br />Legt'~n, the Park View Club, and other public spirited organizations.
<br />
<br /> We are asking the city government to appropriate three hundred dollars tO supply
<br />smpervision and expendable equipment such as balls and bats, etc.
<br />
<br /> O~hr section.is the most densely populated part of the city.' Its smooth streets,
<br />crowded with automobiles, are the only places where cur nearly two thousand children cf all
<br />ages can play.
<br />
<br /> A playground, properly supervised, will supply a safe place for these little ones,
<br />and if it is the means of avoiding even one serious accident, it will mere than repay !the city,
<br />ou~ interested organizations, and parents for the t~ifling cost.
<br />
<br /> This committee feels that you, Mr. Hanrahan, our Mayor, and the City Council,
<br />are fully aware of the need of a p~aYg~ound in Park View, and that as a way is open tO obtain
<br />one at a very small outlay, we can hope for a favorable response to this request.

<br /> WHereas, the Portsmouth Chamber of Oommerce is sponsoring ~uoh an organized effort
<br />known as ~he Portsmouth Forward Movement, and
<br />
<br /> WHereas, a committee of progressive citizens have launched a subsidiary campaign for
<br />disseminating information concerning Portsmouth's s%rategic location, potential opportunities
<br />and unexcelled advantages, known as the "Let's Enow Portsmouth Oampaign,# and
<br />
<br /> W~ereas, it is the purpose and intent of the Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce through
<br />these two movements to enzarge i~s civic and oommercia£ uCefulness,
