At a <br /> <br />special meeting of the Oily Council August 26th there were present: <br /> <br />Messrs--Vernon Brooks, J~ O.~ Dunford, E.W. M~upin, Jr., <br /> Arthum Mayo, J. R. Stewart, L. G. ~hite, 6. <br /> Also the 0ity Manager. <br /> <br />The following directions were read for the special m~eting: <br /> <br />Mr. L. C. Brinson, <br />City Olerk <br />Portsmouth, <br /> <br />uportsmouth, va., <br /> <br />August 25, 1927. <br /> <br />Dear Sir :- <br /> Yom will please call a_special meeting of the O~ty_Oouncilin the Council Chamber <br /> for F~iday, August 26th, at 5 o'clock p. m. to consider ,n its fires re~ an ordinance <br /> for the borrowing of $250,000.00 for 0u~rent Expenses. <br /> <br /> Very truly yours, <br /> <br /> Vernon A. Brooks, Presi~den~." <br /> <br /> The "call" having been read, ~T~h$ following.ordinance was presented: <br /> <br /> A~ Ordinance Authorizing the Bor~owi'ng of Two Hundred ~and Fifty Thouss~d Dollars, in Anti- <br />cip~tlon of the 0ollectiom of the Revemme f~or ~the Tear 1~27, and Providing for ~he Issuance <br />of No~es Therefor. <br /> <br /> Dr. Dunford moved that the oYdin~uce be ~mended by substituting Three Hundred Thousand <br />Dotie~vs for Two Hundr.ed and ~ifZy Thousand Dollars~. The amendment was ~dopted. <br /> <br /> Er. S~ewa~ moved that the ordinance be pl.~ced on first reading. The motion w~s &dopted, and by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes-- Brooks, Dunford, Maupim, Mayo, stewart, White, <br /> <br />On motion, adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
