<br /> The following communication, which hadbeen presented to the Council by the Manager Sep~em-
<br />13th, was taken up and read:

<br />Portsmouth, Va.

<br />Gentlemen:
<br /> ! ~m of the opinion that the Oi~y should m ak? certain improvements in the Harri-
<br />son Ward as soon as practicable. I have a statement from the Oity Clerk & Auditor to the ef-
<br />fect that thexe is a balance on hand in the funds of thi~ wa~d of $~6,01~2~ and $1~,258.49
<br />due from the General Fund on the Oommunity Hall, making a total of ~8,269.730n hand, t9 the
<br />credit of this ward.- There are a good many improvements which should be made from this amount.
<br />
<br /> I am submitting for your consideration a list of needed improvements for which
<br />the money should be made available:
<br />
<br />Charleston A~e. from Duke St. to Watts Ave.
<br />~Des Moines Ave, robe paved from Duke St. to Key ROad withlS, concrete r~dway,
<br />~hestnut St. between Key Road and George Washington Highway~to be curbed and
<br />guttered and road bed to be concreted; also two blocks of concrete ~[dewalk
<br />placed on Chestnut St. between Key Roa~ and George Washington Highway.
<br />Key Road between Elm Ave. and Chestnut St. to be paved with 15~ concrete road bed.
