December 14, 1928 At a special mee%ing~of ~he City Council held December l~th at 8 p. m. there we=e present: ~essrs-- E.W. Naupin, Jr., Arthu~ ~ayo, J. J. R. Stewart, L. G. White, Also the City Manager. Alden Oast, The following directions were read for the special meeting: "Portsmouth, Va., December 12, 1928. Nr. L. C. Brinson, City Clerk, Portsmouth, Va. Dear Sir:-- You will please call a special meeting of the City Counoil~in the Council Chamber, Friday, December 14th, at 8.o'clock po m., to consider a request from the City Nana~er that a special appropriation of $2,155.38 be allowed to pay F. J. NcGuire for concrete work done in connection with restoration of pavements in abandoned street car track a~eas, check for said amount having been received by the City from the Virginia Electric & Power Co. and deposited to the General Fund of the City. Very truly~yours, J. R. STEWART, Vice-President." The ,call" having been read, the following communication~ which was laid on the table by Oouncil December llth until this meeting, was taken up and read: Honorable City Council, Portsmouth, Va. ~Portsmouth, Va., December 11, 1928. Gentlemen: I am in.reaeipt of check for $2,155.38 from the Vi=ginia Electric &P~wer Com- pany for concrete work done in connection with restoration of pavements in abandoned street car track a~eas. I hs~ve deposited this check to th~~ General Fund c~.the City, and request that you re,appropriate this money tonight, so that check may be drawn to F. J. ~cGuire for that amount according te our egreement with him. Very truly yours, On motion of Mr. Cast, and by the following vote: Frank O.
