3~d. "I respectfully request that you appropriate the sum of $1,000.00 for drain e in
the O.~k Grove Cemetery. This is to be taken from the Oemetery fund. The balance ~n t~is fumd
at the present ~ime is $30,230.~3. The cemetery is badly in n~ed of additional drain pipe and
~r. Weaver, the City Engineer, has gone over the matter thoroughly and he feels that this amount
will be sufficient to take care of the needs."

On motion of Mr. Maupln, the communication was laid on the table until the next regular
meeting of 0ouncil.

4th. "Attachedmyou will find a letter from the Neighborhood Club in regard to improve-
I merits on !B· Street, between Hatton and Fort Lane. This letter is accompanied by a petition
i of the property owners in that vicinity. The petition is being referred to you, as it was
directed to the City Council through me."

"The Honorable City Council
via the City Manager.

Gentlemen,-

The attached petitlon of the sixteen citizens of Marshall Ward, whose names
appear thereon, is submitted for your consideration and action. The petition sets forth the
reasons which form the basis of apparently a just grievance. It is noted that the petition
states that several attempts have been made during the past twelve years to have the block
referred t~ paved, but without sdccess. It is presumed that all persons signing this petition
are property owners, and as such they are deserving of consideration to the extent of being
provided with similar conveniences as now enjoyed by other property owners of their Ward. It
· s evident that these citizens have been disgruntled for a long number of years, because of
the Iai,lure to pavethe block in question~ and certainly it is not conducive to the best in-
tercels of the City to have anyof its citizenry feel that their City Government has seemingly
discri~inated ~gainst them in the manner as set forth in their petition of grievance.

The petition was received ~t the regular meeting of the Park View Neighborhood
Club, held March yth, 1929, aad was freely discussed By the large membership present, and it
was the unanimous opinion that the complaint.of these citizens appears to be a just one an~
t~h~oughlydeserving of serious smd favorable consideration, in which we trust you will see
fit to concur.

In presenting the petition of the citizens named, the Club believes that
the time is propitious to invite your attention to the unpaved section of Fo=YLane to the north
of Holladay Street. This street borders on the old cemetery, .and is a thoroughfare which
used to a large e~tent, and should also be improved at the earliest date practicable. If
no other reason this seotiQn of the street should be paved because of the
on the Oldest cemetery in this City, the surroundings ofwhioh should be as attractive as
sible.
It will be appreciated if you will advise this Club of action which yOUm pro-
pose to take in this matter.

Very respectfully,

O. S. STUBLEN, Chairman.

T. B. COKER,
