Stewart in the 0hair. <br /> <br /> The minutes of the regular meetings April 23rd and Nay 14th, and joint meeting with the <br /> Norfolk Oounty Supervisors May 22nd were read and were approved. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mayo moved that the following ordinance be taken out of its regular order and consider- <br /> ed at this time: <br /> Au Ordinance Making it Unlawful to Allow Auy Railroad Oar to Stand on Oraw- <br /> ford' Street, between High and King Streets, for a Longer Period than 12 Hours, <br /> <br /> The motion was adopted. <br /> Mr. Ogg moved that the privilege of the floor be granted to any one who may desire to speak <br /> on the ordinance. The motion was adopted, and Mr.. R. H. Baghy spoke for the petitioners in <br /> favor of the ordinance. Mr. H. A. Brinkley spoke for the S. A. L. Railway 0o. opposing the <br /> ordinance. Mr. T. E. Gilman, representing the Russo Bros., spoke opposing the ordinance. <br /> Mr. Brooks moved that the ordinance be ~aid on the table until the next regular meeting. <br /> The motion wu lost'& b~ the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes-- Brooks, Maupin, <br /> Nays~ Dunford, Mayo, Oast, Stewart, Ogg, <br /> <br /> Then Mr. Brooks moved that the ordinance be a~opted, and the motion was lost. by the follow- <br /> lng vote'~ <br /> Ayes-- None. <br /> Nays-- Brooks, Dunford, Maupin, M~yo,. G. Hartung, ho$eman grade ,A~a salary $4.95 per day, effective <br /> o'clock 'A. M. this date, for the good of the department. <br /> <br /> Appointment of L.. J. R-ipley as hoseman Grade ~B' at a salary of $4.15 per day for a probat- <br /> lonary period of one year, to fill this vacancy., <br /> <br /> On motion, the notice was ordered to be filed. <br /> <br /> 3rd.
