"I would like ~o call your attention ~o a matter which has been before the Council
several times, namely~ building a bridge from West Park View to Shea Terrace at Leckie St.
As you know, permis sion, which is good for only one year, has been granted by the U. S. Engineer-
lng Department and themonthsa~e passing rapidly. I believe, ~s s~ated to you before, if this
bridge were built, it would increase property value~ in that section. If the Council concurs
in the opinion that it would be well to construct this bridge at the present time,, permission
could be granted me~o ask~forbids ont~is wor~ along with the cemetery and park bridge. As
previously outlined to you, the West Par~View ~ridge is to be a,wooden structure, without draw,
similar to the new Westhaven bridge'leading frOm N~t~rview.# ~

On motion of Mr.
~eeting of the Council,
considered.

Stewart, the communicatiOn was laid on th~ table until the nexm regular
to be taken up at the s~me time at which the park and cemetery bridge

3rd. #I respectfully report progress on the assessment work.
engaged en the tax maps which are pretty well under way; this force
with the information necessary for their work.

The office force is busily
is furnishing the assessors

. ~ It.~oo~s at present as if they are ~ery well lined up and have gone a/~ead with the
WOrm~ sumzicien~y ~o avoid any tie~up. I see no~eason w~y the work should ~ot proceed now With-
out any interruptions, o~her than possibly weathe~ conditions or otherUnavo~dable causes. .

There is nothing further to report at this time. I would llke, however, to repeat
my suggestion that members of the Council visit the office atttheir convenience, and see what
is really being done and become acquainted with the work, which will be understood better in
that way than if explained in a letter.#

On motion, the communication was ordered to be filed.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

The following ordinance, which had been placed on first reading by Council March llth, was
taken up and read:
An Ordinance to Amend and Re-ordain Sul~-~e.O~ion "L" of Section 383 of Code
of the City'of Portsmouth, relating to the Speed of Street Cars.

On motion of Mr. Cast, ~he ordinance was referred back to the Oity ~anager and City
Attorney to work out an ordinance that will put the same speed limit on street cars as is now
put on automobiles.

The daily financial report of the Accounting Department for the day ended March 2~th
was received and was ordered to be filed.

NEY BUSINESS

A bill was received from R.
