Shirley Hope, State Game-Warden, to amount of $147.50, for <br />services rendered in destroying 59 tagless dogs @ $2.5~ each. <br /> On motion of ~ro Cast, the Treasurer was authorized to pay said bill~ out of funds on <br />hand from collection of Dog Taxes. <br /> <br /> The daily financial report of the Accounting Depa~ment for the day ended April 21, 1930, <br />was received and was ordered to be filed. <br /> <br /> A petition was read from the Trustees of Elm .Avenue ~. E. Ohurch to be allowed to pay <br />taxes on 1514 Prentis Avenue for the months of January, February, ~arch and ten d~ys in April, <br />1930, and to be relieved from payment o~ further taxes on said property, same being used for <br />parsonage purposes~ <br /> On motion, the petition was referred to the 0ity Attorney. <br /> <br /> A petition was read from the First Baptist 0hutch of South Portsmouth (colored) to be <br />relieved from payme~ of taxes against certain property in Brighton for the Years 1924, $583.O9; <br />1925 $596~87; 1926 $633.31. <br /> On motion, thepetition was referred to the City Attorney. <br /> <br />The following communication was read'from the Ohairman of the Oity Democratic Committee: <br /> <br />The Honorgole Oity 0ounoit <br />Portsmouth, ~irginia, <br /> <br />"April Twenty-second 1930,. <br /> <br />Dear Sirs:-- <br /> <br /> This is to certify that Messrs. S. E. Wiley and AEthur Mayo <br />Democratic Committee a receipt from the City Treasurer for twelve dollars <br />the amount required by law to enter the Democratic Prims~ry~ <br /> <br />filed with the City <br />($12.) which is <br /> <br /> Mr. ~iley withdrew from the Primary and Mr. Mayo debarred himseIf by refusing <br />~o comply with the law. <br /> <br /> Under the State Election Law both ~essrs. Wiley and ~ayo are entitled to a refund <br />of the ~mount paid the City Treasurer. <br /> <br />Very truly yours, <br /> <br /> . ~; L.
