<br /> I respectfully report dn the following tax. matters which were referred to me:
<br /> (1) Petition of Jackson Memorial Baptist Ohurch for relief of taxes referred to me at
<br />, meet~n held on April 8, 1930. I find that'the property ~1905 Elm Avenue was conveyed

<br />has been used as a parsonage for the church. The property, therefore, should not have been
<br />assessed for taxation since the year 1924, and taxes assessed in' the name of W. K. Stallings
<br />amounting to $~.60 for 1927, $~7.?0 for 1928, $~7-?0 for 192~, and $4?.?0 for 1930, ~ogether
<br />with all interest and penalties thereon should be relieved.
<br /> (2) Petition of ~rastees' of Elm Avenue ~. EL Ohurch referred to me at yov.v meeting held
<br /> on April ~3~ 1930. I find that by deed daSed_April lO, 1930, and acknowledged and recorded
<br /> on April 22, 1930, in Dee~-Book ~105-B page56?, the Trustees of Elm Avenue M. E. Church pur-
<br /> chased from Ruth E. Russ the pYoperty $151~ Prentis Avenue. I am informed-that the pastor
<br /> of the church was living in the property at thetime of th~ purchase and that the same has since
<br /> been used as ~ pscvsonage. The taxes for the year 1930 amount to $58.30,-and the church is
<br /> asking that they be pro-rated for the yeax1930, and that it be-relieFed of the patter the
<br /> year during which' it has owned the property. I~ their reeuest be granted, they shou/d be
<br /> relieved of the s~m of $~0.16. The cotuucil has, in other 'instances, granted similar ree~ests.

<br /> A statement was read from the Oity'Glerk & Auditor that he .had examined the Treasurer's
<br /> report, the statement from the several Banks, and the ~ccounting Department ~eport, for the
<br /> month of April, 1930, and find that they agree.
<br /> On motion, the statement was ordered to be filed.
