<br />At a special meeting of the Oity Oouncil held J~nuary 20th there were present:

<br />The following directions were read for the special meeting:

<br /> You will please call a special meeting of the 0ity Oouncil,
<br />Tuesday, Janmary 20th, at 8 o'clock p. m., to consider:

<br />in the Council Chamher~t
<br />
<br /> 1st. Communication from the Oity Attorney in reference to building bridges over Lake
<br />Oahoon.
<br />
<br /> 2nd. Oontract with Virginia Electric & Power Go. with reference to electrification of
<br />the water plant at Suffolk.
<br />
<br />3rd. The 1931 Budget.
<br />
<br />4th. Any other business that m~y p~operly come before the body.
<br />

<br /> The "call" having been ~ead, Mr. Mayo moved that consideration of. the 1931 B~ge~be
<br />taken from its position on'the "6all# ~ud considered at this time.
<br /> The motion was adopted.
<br />
<br />Mr. Mayo moved the adoption of the Budget as ame~de~ in Conference.
<br /> The motion was adopte~.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Ogg moved that $3600.00 be added to the Budget adopted
<br />ejectors, making the total[amount $5,000,00.
<br /> The motion w~s adopted.
<br />
<br />Mr. OgE moved ~hat $25,640.32 be deduO~ted from the Budget.
<br /> The motion was adopted by the following vote:
<br />
<br />Ayes~ Maupin, Oast, Ogg, Stewart,
<br />Nays-- Brooks,Hutchins, Mayo, 3-
<br />
<br /> Mr. Stewart moved'that the Budget be adopted, as amended,
<br />and by the following vote:
<br /> Ayes-- Maupin, Cast, Ogg, Stewart,
<br /> Nays-- Brooks, Hutchins, Mayo, 3.
<br />
<br />for the operation of sewer
<br />
<br />and same was adopted as amended,
<br />
<br />Mr. Mayo moved the adoption of the Water Budget as ~mended in Conference.
<br /> The motion was adopted, and by the following vote:
<br />
<br /> Ayes-- Brdoks, Hutchins, Maupin, Mayo, Oast, Ogg, Stewart,
