Brinson, <br />Oity O!erk, Oity. <br /> <br />Dear Sir: <br /> <br /> You will please call a special meeting of the Oity Oouncil in the Oouncil <br /> Ohamber, Tuesday, March 17, 1931, mt 8 o'clock P.M. to consider: <br /> <br /> 1st - The electrification of the water plsmt at Suffolk. <br /> <br /> 2nd - The improvement and extension of whiteway on High St, <br /> <br /> 3rd - Such other business that ,may properly come before the body. <br /> <br /> Very truly yours, <br /> <br /> Vernon A. Brooks, <br /> President., <br /> <br /> The prop6sed contract between the Oity of Portsmouth and the Virginia <br />Electric and Power Oompany for the electrification of the Suffolk water plant was taken <br />up and on motion was referred to a 6onference of the Oouncil. <br /> <br /> Oommunication from the Oity Manager in reference to improvement and ex- <br />ten~ion of whiteway on High St. was taken up. On motion the privilege of the floor <br />was granted James A. Eulvey who oresented a petition, from residents and owners asking <br />that the whiteway be olaced on O~awford Street between ~een and Oo~mty Streets and on <br />Oo~uty Street between-Orawfordand Oou~t Streets~' <br /> <br /> On motion, t~e Oity Manager's communication and petition were referred <br />to a conference of the ~o~uczI, <br /> <br />The following letter was read: <br /> <br />~Portsmouth, <br /> <br />Va. March 10th, 1931. <br /> <br />H&norable Oity Oounci!, <br />Oity Of Portsmouth, <br />Portsmouth, VaJ <br /> <br />Gentlemen: <br /> <br />~ -' ~a joint meeting of the Supervisors of Norfolk Oounty and the Oouncil <br /> o£ the Oity of Portsmouth, the following motion was adopted: <br /> <br />* That the Oounty of Norfolk and the Oity of Portsmouth each borrow <br />$5,000.~ m~kingau~ggregate of $10,000., and charge to the acco~ut <br />of the new ferry boat, this same to reimburse the current fund of <br />the fSrry for the amount spent in interest while the boat was under <br />const~dction, same having been made a capital charge;~ <br /> <br />Yours very truly, <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. <br /> <br /> L.
