ga_~i to the bill amounting to $75.69 fo= auditing books of the Clerk of She Hustings 0curt.
This letter states that the bill has been reduced by one-half ar~i that the
check for the Oity is to be $37.85. I recommend, that a check for this amount be drawn and
m~iled to the Comptroller, as requested."
MotiOn of Mr. Brooks that the recommendation be concurred in and an appropri-
ation of $37.85 be made, was adopted.

The following communications from the Oity Atto=ney were read:

"At you~ ~ast meeting you refer=ed So me a letter from
requesting that 'a tax am~uuting So Thirteen(t13.00) Doll~S for the year 19~2 i~ the name
cf H.A~V. Pa=kef be cancelled. Mr. Sams' contention is that the tax w~s en~ere~ incor-
rectly on the Back Tax Book and he was thereby misled when he e~amined the title to the
property. I find ~rom the Land Book of 1912 that H.A.V. Pa~ker was assessed with one par-
cel o~ land in the 6th Ward, described as follows:
Parker, H.A.V. -- 3 lots, ~'~-45-~6 Pla~ Bo.L. Oompany.
He was also assessed with a parcel in the 5th Ward, desc=ibe~ as follows:
Parker, H.A.~. - 1~6- ½ 1450 - northwest co.ne= Webster & Villa.
The tam books at this time show the
Parker~ H.A.V. 2 lots, 4~5 6 So. L. Oompany.
I believe, from the fact that the Sou%horn Land Oompany has no such 15ts as
445 and ~46 ~d Shat ~. Parker had only one oarcel of land assessed.to him in l~12.in the
6th Ward, and only one parcel assessed on the-So-4~hern Le~ud Company, that there was suffi-
cient on the Back Tax Book to put Mr. Sams on notice when he examined the title. There are
many similar errors on both the Land Books and the Back Tax Book and it is impossible to
keep errors of this character from appeazing. I do not recommend that the tax be canceled."
Motion of Mr. ~atchins that the Attorney's opinion be concurred in ~ud the
relief asked for be not gra~ted, was adopted.
