<br /> 2nd - Not ice of the appointment oi' J. j. Smith as Policeman, effective August
<br />21st, 1931, was, on motion, ordered filed.

<br /> 3rd - Notice of demotion of J.D.B.EcLaughlin from Lieutenant to Hoseman, Grade A,
<br />Fire Department, and the appointment of S H Hall, as Lieutenant in his stead, was, on
<br />motion, ordered filed. ' '

<br />following ordinance "An Ordinance authorizing the borrowing of 0~ Hundred and Fifty Thou-
<br />sand ($150,000.00) Dollars in antioipatlon of the collection of the revenue of 1931, and
<br />providing for the issuance of a note or notes therefor.,,
<br /> On motion of Mr. Stewart, the ordinance was placed on its first reading.

<br /> The motion that the recommend~tion be concurred in, was adopted, and by

<br /> I recommend that this ordinance be placed on its first reading tonight,
<br />and that a conference be held for discussion of same, following the Council meeting, if
<br />time permits."

<br /> The letter from the City Maneger recommending the extension of the ~nite
<br />way on Crawford Street between High and 0ounty Streets, and on County Street, between
<br />Orawford and Court Streets laid on table until this meeting, was taken up.
<br /> Mr. Mayo moved that-the recommendation of the City Manager be concurred in
<br />and that $y8.00 be appropriated for same for balance of year.
<br /> Amendment of Mr. Ogg that the matter be referred to the 1932 budget, was
<br />lost.
<br /> Vote being taken on the motion of M~. Mayo, same was adopted, and by the
<br />fo!lowingv~te:

<br /> Nays - Ogg - 1.

<br /> Motion of Er. Stewart "to appropriate $18,192.9~ for ~rbs and gutters in
<br />West Park View and to improve such other streets to be recommended b~ the City M~nager."
