At a special meeting of the Oity Council there were present; Vernon A. Brooks, W. Re Hutohins, Leslie den Oast, A~chibald Ogg. Also the City Manager. Seotember Ist, 1932. held September 1st, '1932, at ll:O0 A.M. ~ T. Fox, A~thur Mayo, S. B. Moore, J.A1- The meeting was called to order by the Clerk who presented the oath of office of Vernon A. B~ooks, J. Alden 0asr, S. B. Moore and Leslie T. Fox. The following call for the meeting was read: 'Portsmouth, Va., August 29th, 1932. L. O. Brinson, City Olerk. Dear Sir: Please call a for the puxpose of orEanization. o'clock A.M. special meeting of the City Co-macil September Ist, Yours truly, W. R~ Hutohins.' A~thur Mayo J. Alden Oast Vernon A. Brooks So B~ Moore Leslie T. Fox Archfoald Ogg.' for nomination for temporary chairman. Mr. Ogg. There being no other nomination, 1932, at 11:O0 Fox placed in nomina- Ogg was declared The Clerk called ti on for temporary chairman, elected. The Chairman called for nomination for PreSident of Council. Mr. Oast in nomination. Motion of Mr. Brooks to close nominations was adopted. Er. Oast was elected President of the Council,_ and by the following vo~e.~ · Mayo placed M~. Vote being taken, For Mr. Oast- B~ooks, Hutohins, Fox, Mayo, Moore, Ogg - 6. Against Um. Oast- None. Er. Oast excused from voting. The Chairman called for nomination for Vice-president of the Council. Mr. Fox nominated Mr. Mayo for Vice President of the Council. Mot ion of Mr. Brooks to close the nominations, was adopted. Vote being taken on Mayo for Vice President of the City Council, he was elected, and by the~following vote: For Mr. k~yo - Brooks, Hutchins, Fox, Moore, Oast, Ogg - 6. N~. Maya excused from voting.
