<br />dated March 6th, requesting refund of $59.OOpaid on May 2~h and June 7th, 1932 for dealer' s
<br />automobile license plates.
<br /> This refund is requested fo~ the reason that Tyree Jones Motor Oorporation
<br />was the only dealer that paid for dealer's tags du~ing !932. In o~der to save time, I refer-
<br />red t~nis matter to Mr~ Bar~lay... Gity Attorney, on Ma~eh 7th, for. his views~an~. ..... recommendation.
<br />Mr. Barclay's reply, datedM~rch l~th, is attached, from which, mt will be noted that the State
<br />Legislature in 1932, in the Meto~ Vehicle Lsw p~ohibited the 0ity from further placing license
<br />fees and taxes upon motor vehicles used by-a dealer or. manufacturer for sale pum~poses; the
<br />State Law becoming effective about the 20th of June, 1932. Tyree Jones paid thei~ dealer's
<br />license on May 2?th and Juue 7th, 1932, ~nd as they were the only dealers in the 0ity that
<br />paid the tax, it is my recommendation that they be refunded the amount of $59.00 which was
<br />paid by them f~ the dealer's tags."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Hutchins to concu~ in the Manager's recommendation was acl~ptedo

<br /> 3rd - "In_accordance with recent understanding, I ~oplied tkrough the State Emer-
<br />gency Relief Committee for an additional loan from the Reconstruction Finance Corporation in
<br />order that employment could be given additional unemployed men, and for a longe~ period than
<br />the first loan would, permit.
<br /> we secured a loan of $8,154.00 on December 21st, 1932 and I have advice from
<br />the Gove=nor~s Emergency Relief Oommittee dated March 4th that a relief loan had been g=anted
<br />of $11,036.O0. On receipt of advice ef the additional loan, I increased the number of workers
<br />employed with the R.F.0. funds from one hundred to approximately one hundred and eightyto' two
<br />hundred, and will be able to give this number employment until about M~y 15th. Ygur approval
<br />of the additiona% Ioanis requested. I also request a special aporopr~ation of $900.00 for
<br />cost of supervismon, materials and tools f6r th~se forces, as th~-City is requir&d to stand the
<br />cost of supervision, materials and tools used by forces paid from-the R.F.O. loans. This spe-
<br />cialappropriation of $900.00 will be sufficient with the amount_now available for. supervision,
<br />materials and tools until the latter part of April."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Moore to eoncu~ in the Manager's recommendation, and to appropriate
<br />$900.00 for said purpose, was adopted, ~nd by the following vote:

<br />The following communication ~om the 0ity Attorney was read:
<br />
<br /> "At your last meeting you referred to me the following court orders, on which I de-
<br />sire to report.
<br /> (1) Order of court reducing the assessment on the building ~816-818 Green Street
<br />from $15,000.O0 to $12,000.00 awned by the Progressive Realty Corporation. This property is
<br />known as the Matthews Apartment and the cour~ considers the asses~ent too high. The co=pota-
<br />tion should be relieved of th~ sum of $?9.50 for each of the years 1931 and 1932.
<br /> (2) Order of court Feducing the assessment of the property of the Parri~h 0ompany
<br />known as 425 London Street and ~l~-~19 Waver~y Boulevard. The court reduced the bumlding at
<br />425 London Street from $3600.00 to $3000;00 and the building o~ Waverly Bculeyard from
<br />$1~,000.00 to $12,O00.00. The parrish Oompany should be refunaed the s~m of $15.90 for ~ach
<br />pf the years 1931 and 1932 on the oroperty ~25 London S~reet and $4?.?0 on the property ~l?-
<br />~19 ~averly Boulevard for the year-1931, and should be relieved of the sum of $~?.?0 on the
<br />latter property for the year 1932."
