Brinson, I was in- <br />structed by him that in order to be refunded our pro-rata portion of the taxes, namely from <br />July 26th; 1932 f6r the remainder of the year that we would be required to make a further re- <br />~uest of a refund of~56.~9 as our p~o-rata portion of the taxes ~or the remainder portion of <br />the year from July 2oth, i932. <br /> Efter this further request is adopted by your body during your next meeting of june <br />13th, it is the request of the writer that he be notified and he will either call or you may <br />forward a check forths above-mentioned amount. This application was answered June 4~ <br />1932 in a letter stating that according to law, all applicatioms must be made ~efore June 1st <br />of each yea=. Formal application was again made on January l~, 1933 and on April llth, 1933 <br />an answer was received ~tating that 'After material consideration the Board passed a reso- <br />lution stating that it was inadvisable to make ~ny change in the handling of textbooks for <br />next year and reappointed W.K. Hodges as agent. <br /> We realize that the 0ity Oouncil is not responsible for the acts of the SohooI Board~ <br />but~ as the 0ity 0ouncil determines the rates of taxes imposed on. merchants; we respectfully <br />request that we Ce grmuted a material reduction in any such tax for the coming year.
