December 12th. <br /> <br />Hr. Powell, he would have placed the value at $2,000.00 and further states that Er. Niemeyer <br />tried to ascertain from the City Collector's office just what figures he had given to Hr. Pow- <br />ell. However, I am unable to say whether Er. Niemeyer made the mistake when he gave the fig- <br />ures to Hr. Powell, or whether he made the mistake when he made the assessment. He .made a mis- <br />take in one instance, and taking into consideration the fact that it was his custom to assess <br />property at 70~ of ~s cost, the figure of $2100.00 might as well be correct as the figure of <br />$2,000.00. <br /> Hence, i am unab~ to say that Hr. Powell is entitled to a refund of $2.65." <br /> <br /> Notion of Hr. Hutchins to refund Er. Hunter Powell $2.65 on taxes paid in error, <br />was adopted. <br /> <br /> - UNFINISHED BUSINESS - <br /> An appropriation of $6,553.69 to refund Seaboard Air Line Railway Company over- <br />payment of taxes, laid on table at last meeting, was taken up. <br /> <br /> Motion of i~r. Ogg, the privilege of the floor was extended to Hr. A. Berson, <br />who stated that check for his taxes was delayed through no fault of his and did not reach the <br />Gollector's offiCe until after the penalty was put on taxes, a~d that the Collector refused to <br />receive Same, without penalty, and he asked the Council ~o allow him to pay said tax without <br />penalty. <br /> Notion o£ Hr. Noore to allow Er. Borsch to pay his taxes without penalty, was <br />adopted. - <br /> <br /> The meeting was opened to the p¢olis as per advertising in Portsmouth Star of <br />November 26th. <br /> <br />Present Hr. Brooks. <br /> <br /> Nr. J.
