-~----~-- At a regular meeting of the 0ity there were present:
Vernon A. Brooks, Leslie T. Fox, ~.R. Hutchins, S.B. Moore~ J. Alden 0asr,
H.F. parrish, J.R. stewart, the City Nanager.
Ninutes of regular meeting held October 9th were read and approved.
The following report of Committee on Bus Terminals was read:
~We, the undersigned Committee, appointed to confer with the parties operating
buses in the City of Portsmouth in regard to the ordinance passed by the City Council on Nov-
ember 28th, 1933, regulating motor oassen~er buses, respectfully report as follows:
We conferred with representatives of several of the bus lines, and find that
the PeninSula Bus Oomoany holds a lease fem the property at the northwest corner of High and
Orawferd Streets, which expires on May 31st, 193~- Tae several bus lines have agreed to use
this ~operty as a terminal. The owner of the prooerty and the peninsula BuS ~ompany have
a~eed to cay the excess of removing four feet of ~he sidewalk on the west side of Orawford
Street, between Hig~and Queen Streets, which will conform to the street south of High Street,
and to pave the area to correspond with the present roadway. ThiS street can then be used for
the loading and unloading of buses.
We therefore recommend that the provisions of the bus ordinance passed by the
Oity Oouncil on November 28, 1933, whereby it is required that buses be loaded and unloaded
"while on private property and off the streets of the City" be suspended until June 1, 1936,
and that the Oity Nanager be reGuested to designate a portion of the wes~ side of Crawford
~, h~w~en H~h and Oueen Streets. as a claes for takzng on and azscnargzng bus passen-
gers. We recommend that the attached ordinance be placed on mrs zzrst readmng and as soon as
the interested parties have deposited with the 0ity Manager sufficient money to pay the costs
of changing said street which will be approximately $750.00 and must be paid within ten days
from the adoption of this report, that it be passed.

Respectfully s~omitted,

On motion of Mr.
