Brinson, <br /> 0ity 01erk, <br /> Portsmouth, Va. <br /> <br />Dear <br /> <br />3tat, <br /> <br />"Portsmouth, Va., J~nuary 30th, 1935. <br /> <br />Sir: <br /> <br /> please call a meeting of the Oity Oounci! in the 06unOil Ohamber ~or January <br /> 1935 at 5:00 P.M., fer the election of a Oity Nanage~, as per the attached request. <br /> <br />Yours truly, <br /> <br />Vernon A. Brooks, President, <br /> Oity 0oun¢il." <br /> <br />TAe following petition was read: <br /> <br /> "The undersigned, all PROPERTY OWNERS and residents of the Oity of Portsmouth, <br />Va., hereby respectfully reGUest the Oouncil of said 0ity to elect H.B. Anderson to succeed <br />himself as Oity ~anager thereof. This petition is presented because: <br /> <br /> 1. The councilmanic action in vacating said office was, in o~- judgment, <br />ill-advised and premature. <br /> <br /> 2. H.B. Anderson's administration of the Oity's government has been the most <br />efficient in the history of the Oity. <br /> <br /> 3. A continuation of the policies of H.B. Anderson <br />vency of the-0i~y and to the best interests of its PROPERTY-OWNERS, <br />residents. <br /> 839 signers." <br /> <br />is essential to the Sol- <br />tax payers and other <br /> <br /> Notion of Mr. Fox that all the names presented for nomination for Gity Manager <br />at meeting held on January 22nd be now placed in nomination, was adopted. <br /> <br />Stewart nominated Mr. Frank 0.
