garden, with specimens of the plants mentioned in hisworks.
There should be a herb garden, a fern garden, a rock garden,J an aquatic garden,
a rose garden, an old-fashioned garden and a wild flower garden.
Due. to the growing interest in~ardens_ today, it seems t.o be a propitious time
to start this new type of garden. Properly planted it would prove not only of interest to
the people of the City, but t~ the growing body of ~ourists through the State.
~The Flora Committee cf the Academy of Science is doing a fine work in collect-
ing Virginia wild flowers,H it was added. Its assistance would be of great value in securing
a complete collection of flora from Virginia.
Then the following subject was discussed; namely, that the entrance to Oak
Grove Cemetery on First Avenue be improved by placing pillars and a gate, like those that are
at the other entrances and that both~Gak Grove and Cedar Grove cemeteries, have the names of
each, placed in a conspicuous place, also make a rule for the First Avenue gate to be closed
at dark and not allow automobiles in there at eleven otclock at night as is reported by resi-
dents in the neighborhood. Brownley Cherry, the new keeper in charge of. Oak Grove Cemetery
has made a wonderful improvement there. Both of these petitions are of Vital importance to
our City and the West Park View Club urges your honorable body to take some steps on these
two projects. The Garden Clubs will all standby the formation of a Botanical Garden and we
urge your cooperation. Under the supervision of Mr. Ross, the Garden Clubs can work out the
various types of gardens.
Thanking you for quick action on these matters, we are,

Cordially yours,
