Mr. Oast stated that auto liability insurance was very much higher in Ports- mouth than elsewhere in Virginia, ~nd on his motion, the Manager and the City Attorney were authorized to investigate same and to take the matter up wit~proper a~horities to try to secure an adjustment of same. At a special meeting of the City Council, held August 28th, 1935, a~ ~:00 P.M., there were present: Vernon A. Brooks, W.R. Hutchins, Leslie T. Fox, B.B. Moore, J.R. Stewart, the City Manager. adopted: The City Manager presented the following resolution, which was, on motion, "APPLICATION RESOLUTION Resolution No. A resolution authorizing the E.B.Hawks, City Manager, to file an application to the United States of America, through the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works for a loan and gran~ to aid in financing the construction of ~WO public school buildings and designating E.B. Hawks, City Manager, to Furnish such infor- mation as the Government may request. Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Portsmouth Va._ Section 1. That E.B. Hawks~ City Manager, be and he (they) is (are) hereby authorized to execute and file an application on behalf of Oity of Portsmouth~ Va. To the United Btates of America, for a loan and grant to aid in financing the construction of two public school buildings. Section 2. That E.B. Hawks, City Manager, be and he (they) is (are) hereby authorized and directed to furnish such information as the United S~ates of America through the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works may reasonably request in connection with the appli- cation which is herein authorized to be filed."
