The following letter was read: "For the past three years, we have been giving charity shows at the Municipal auditorium to held defray what relief we have undert~zken. It has been the pleasure of you gentlemen to ref,~d the amount of $15.00 which was paid for the auditorium to us, which we highly appreciate. Now we come to you gentlemen to ask of you to refund the amount paid to you on Friday, September 20th, the day in which our annual performance took place. In the past several mSnths it has been our pleasure to help many families wi~h milk, shoes, grote - rios and the necessities of life, but our financial condition is very bad, due to the large number that we are now helping. The following letter was read and ordered filed: "You are cordially invited to attend the 22nd Annual conference of the Inter- national City Managers' Association, to be held at the Hotel Andrew Johnson in Knoxville,Ten- nessee, Oct. 21-2~. Tt~e conference is attended each year by city managers, councilmen, and other leading local government officials. Of especial interest to all city officials this year willties:be the session at whi~ the roi!owing three topics.will be discussed by leading authorl- 1. Effect of Social Security Plans on City Health and Welfare Departments. 2. How to Make Most Effective Use of PWA ~ud WPA.Programs. '3. After PWA and WPA, What - the Future Mu~.icipal Program Other important matters to be discusse~ are: procedures to be followed in storing salary and ~age outs; relations between council and manager; administrative problems in the handling of personnel, police and traffic problems, etc. A complete conference program will be sent your City Manager early in October. It is the experience of councilmen and managers alike that attendance at these meetings proves of great value to their citiesj Your City will be bound to face within the next few months many of th~ problems to be discussed. We e~hall b~ happy to welcome one or more representatives from your City, with the expectation, of cou?se, that your City Manager will be one.
