252 <br /> <br />October 8th, <br />its members. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> The regular meeting of the City Council, which was to have convened on <br />was postponed until ~October 15th, owing to the death of H.P. Parrieh, one of <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br />President. <br /> <br />October 15th, 1935. <br /> <br /> At a regular meeting of the City Council, held October 15th, 1935 at <br />8:00 P.M., there were present: <br /> <br />Vernon A. Brooks, Leslie T. Fox, W. Ro Hutchins, S. B. Moore, j. Alden <br />Cast, J.R. Stewart, the City Manager. <br /> <br />read and approved. <br /> <br />Minutes of regular meetings, held September loth and September 24th were <br />The following communications from the City Manager Were read: <br /> <br /> !st - The City Manager stated the F.E.R.A. had refused to help tran- <br />sients and there were two families stranded here Without funds to return to their homes, <br />and there was likely ~o be more and he asked for an appropriation of $~150~00' for'said pur- <br />pose. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Hutchins, $150,00 was appropriated, smd by the fol - <br /> <br />lowing vote: <br /> <br />Ayes - Brooks: Pox, Hutchins, Moore, Oast, Stewart - 6. <br />Nays - None. <br /> <br />lis~, 2000 ft. of 8" pipe <br />$500.00. <br /> <br /> 2nd - #I am advised by the City Engineer that $500.00 is necessary to <br />complete a sewer project; embracing the following streets: <br /> King Bt. - Chestnut .to Elm Ave. <br /> Columbia St.'- " " " <br /> Pine St. - South to King St. <br /> Parker St. - Race to South St. <br /> Richmond Ave. - Race to South St. <br /> South to Clifford St. <br /> Clifford St. - Godwin to L~using Ave. <br /> Griffin St. - Richmond to Lansing Ave. <br /> Lansing Ave. - South ~o Clifford St. <br /> Elm Ave. ~ County to South St. <br /> That material was on hand for the work, bu~ during the progress <br />of the work , it became necessary to sewer the following streets, in order to remedy bad <br />conditions and to connect new buildings. <br /> Argyle St. - Effingham to Green St. <br /> ~Green Bt. - Brighton to Randolph St. <br /> yth Ave. - Charles to South of Elizabeth St. <br /> Scot~ St. - Washington to Dinwiddie St. <br /> Elizabeth St.- 6th Ave. to 7th Ave. <br /> Now in order to complete the streets included in the original <br /> and 60,804 Y s and some send and cement are needed, which will <br /> <br />available ppomptly, <br /> <br /> I therefore recommend that $500.00 be appropriated and made <br />in order that this work may proceed without delay.~ <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Stewart, $500.00 was appropriated for said purpose, and <br />by ~he following vote: <br /> Ayes - Brooks, Fox~ Hutchins, Moore, Oast, ~tewart - 6. <br /> Nays - None. <br /> <br /> 3rd - "We have a surplus of W.P.A. labor aporooriation for a sewer pro- <br />.Ject end it is believed that a part of the Spprcpriation may be transferred into an appropri- <br /> ation for material, upon the condition that the City will provide ~2% of the cost of the ma- <br /> terial. <br /> <br /> <br />
