<br />On motion of Mr. Hutchins, the ordinance was passed by until later in the meet-

<br />death of Mrs. Cora S. Darden, and go into the election for her successor, was adopted.

<br /> Several letters were read, recommending M~s. W.B. Spong, letter recommending Mrs.
<br />Marie Hedges Vi¢cellio, signed by Patrons of Portsmouth Schools; also letters reauesting the
<br />~ouncil to elect a woman on the School Board.

<br />Motion to accept said invitation with thanks, was adopted.

<br /> Bill of J. Shirley Hope, State Game Warden, for destroyinK 88 tagless dogs at
<br />$2.50 each, amounting to ~220.00, was received.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Mi-. Fox, the Treastt~er was authorized to pay same from funds in her
<br />hands from collection of Dog Taxes.

<br />The following letter from the School Board was read:

<br />A.O. Ferebee, and Rudolph, Cooke & Van Leeuwen), equipment

<br />That ~he City Council be requested to approve this program and
<br />amend the P.W.A. school project previously submitted, so as to
<br />qall for a ~5% goverr~ment grant of $h)4, 619.30, the City Couucil
<br />to provide 55%, or $5~,53~.70.,

<br />to execute papers, asking the P.W.A.

<br /> Report of W.P. Jordan & Company, for auditing the books of the Norfolk County
<br />Ferries for January, was received and ordered filed.

<br /> Privilege of the floor was granted to J. Shirley Hope, who asked the Council to
<br />appropriate $50.00 ~oward the expense of Memorial Day Celebration.
<br />
<br />Motion of Mr. Hutchins to appropriate $50.00 for said purpose, was adopted.
<br />
<br /> Motion of Mr. Hutchins to continue the ordinance authorizing the borrowing of
<br />$130,000.00 for ferry purposes, on table until Wednesday, February 26th, and that we now ad-
<br />Journ to meet on Wednesday, February 26th, at ~:00 P.M., to consider the same, was adopted,
