<br /> At a regular meeting of the City Council, held on December 8th, 1936, at ~:00
<br />there, were present:

<br />Leslie T. Fox, George L. Grimes, James N. Howard, W. R. Hutchins,
<br />Frank D. Lawrence, C. E. Warren, H. Earl Weiseman, Pearls J.
<br />~ilson, the City Manager.
<br />

<br /> Minutes of regular meeting on November 24th, and special meeting on December
<br />were read and ~vproved.
<br />
<br /> Notion of Mr. Fox that the $9,000.00 appropriation for new negro high school
<br />be laid on table until next meeting, was adopted.
<br />
<br />The following communications from the City Manager were read:
<br />
<br /> 1st ~It is w~th a sense of deep sorrow that I advise you of the death of
<br />Police Officer Eo R. Story, which occurred on the 30th day of November.
<br /> Mr. Story was aopointed a substitute officer on February llth, 1930,
<br />and as a regular on April llth, 1934.-
<br /> He was injured in the discharge of his du~y, on March 5th, 1935,
<br />at the ~ime of the accident, had been on the regular f~ce'eleven months.
<br /> Mr. Story,s leg was ~a~rputated by Dr. Collins, and the wound never com
<br />pletely healed; from the da~e of the accident ~unttt the date of his death, he had had the
<br />constant attention and services of Doctors Roper and Co!~ins.
<br /> His ho soital and medical e~oenses were assumed by ~he City, and he was
<br />carried at full pay until his' death.~
<br />
<br />On motion, the letter was filed.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Mr. Hutchins, the following committee was appointed to bring in
<br />resolutions on the death off'Police Officer E. R:. Story: W. R. Hutchins, L. T. Fox amd P.J
<br />Wilson. ·
<br />
<br /> 2nd ~The City owns that property, in. Crawford Street, designated by numbers
<br /> 619, 621, 623 and 625, and known as Bogart's Row.
<br /> This property was taken over by the City for taxes, and is in bad con-
<br /> dition, unsightly and unprofitable.
<br /> I recommend that this property be advertised for sale, amd t_hat the
<br /> price be subject to. the Council's approval."

<br /> Motion of Mr. Fox ~o concur in the Manager, s recommendation, was adopted.
<br />
<br /> 3rd - #I received a communicat:ion from Mr. W. C. Gray, ~019 Glasgow Ct. stat-
<br />lng that on October 30th, 93~ a false fire alarm was turned in, from the corner of Glasgow
<br />St. and Mt. Vernon Ave., at 8:00 P.M., by Bill Lawson, who was arrested upon charges prefer-
<br />.red by W. G.Grayo That as a result, the said Bill La~son was tried, on November cth, at 3:00
<br /> P.M., in the Juvenile ~ourt, and was placed on probation-for twelve months.
<br /> For this service, Mr. Gray is claiming a reward of $50.00. Both the
<br /> Chief of Police and Chief of the Fire Dena~tm~nt
