<br />In connection with the 1936 delinquent report, the following resolution was
<br />
<br /> "WHEREAS, the accounts and records of the
<br />office of A~E. Parker~ City Collector~ were audited
<br />by L.0. Brinson, City Clerk & Auditor, as of-~ebru-
<br />ary 18th, 1937, a~d according to the. report of the
<br />City Clerk and Auditor, were found correct, as shown
<br />by the books of the City~ a~ud
<br /> WHEREAS, it appears that it is the duty of
<br />the City Council to have examined yearly~the list. of
<br />uncollected taxes, and to credit the Collector such
<br />taxes, as in their opinion, could not havebeen col
<br />looted with due diligence; and
<br /> WHEREAS, it appears that A.E. Parker, City
<br />Collector, should be credited with all taxes levied
<br />in 1936~ remaining uncollected on the 18th day of
<br />February, 1937, the amounz of which is shown in said
<br />report of L~C. Brinson, City Clerk & Auditor.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Coun~
<br />oil of the City of Portsmouth, that A.E. Parker, Oity
<br />Collector, be credited with all uucollected taxes
<br />levied in 1936, remaining in his office on February 18th,
<br />1937,.and that he be relieved of responsibility for not
<br />having collected the same, bu~ nothing herein contained,
<br />shall be construed as relieving the payment of said tax-
<br />es by the persons owing the same, or'in relieving
<br />Parker, City Collector, from his responsibility for
