4¸5 <br /> <br />May ~th. <br /> <br /> In connection with this proposed ehange in location of the bus terminal, we, <br /> t~e 'following interested citizens and business firms, enter our s~ronges~ protest, and pre - <br /> sent the following reasons for such protest: <br /> 1st. The. proposed plan would necessitate removal of several feet of side <br /> ~walk on.bo~h sides~o~ High $~reet, near 'the'*~ntranoe to Ferries° <br /> 2nd. That all for hire ears and cabs would be forced ~o move from their <br /> present stands. <br /> 3rd. That curb serviee now given motorist in this block would be compel= <br /> led to be discontinued. <br /> ~tho That serious congestion would occur many times during the day and <br /> night on account of freight trains on Crawford Street which would <br /> hold up the traffie~ ' <br /> 5th. That offlei~ls of the V.E.p. Company, have stated on numerous occa- <br /> sions that it would be impossible to maintain a schedule for its <br /> buses. <br /> 6th. That serious losses in revenue from the Ferries, besides great in- <br /> convenience to the traveling public. <br /> The above reasons,, and many more that could be eited, compels us to respeet~ <br />fully submit to your honorgole body this protest, and urge you to disregard any movement to <br />change the present location of the bus terminals which, as we understand, is entirely satis- <br />factory to large majority of Portsmouth people. <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Howard <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Warren <br />$36.00 per month, was adopted. <br /> <br /> Respectfully s~omitted <br /> <br /> (Signed) James Alexander and 1I others.~ <br /> <br />to disapprove the request of Mr. Rosenbaum, was adopted. <br />to increase the pension of J.A.
