<br />Minutes of regular meeting held October 26th were read and approved.
<br />
<br />The following communications from the City Manager were read:
<br />
<br /> 1st - "There has been allotted to Portsmouth, $4,600.00 for maintenance of
<br />State Highways through the City, for 193~ mud 1938.
<br /> It will be necessary at this time for the. Council, to appropriate
<br />this amount which will be paid to us by t~e State in quarterly instalments. By doing this,
<br />we can get the labor free, which will be?~ great help
<br /> Motion of Mr.. Hutohins ~ place the requested appropriation of $4,600.00 on
<br />its first readin~ was adopted.

<br /> 2nd - ~I have begun work on the budget for the next year, and in msking-up
<br />this budgeZ~ one of the most serious problems confronting us is to correctly estimate the
<br />amount of revenue we may expect from the:Ferries. -
