<br /> "Your petitioner, Beacon Light Lodge No. 3~, of Elks of this City, respectful-
<br /> ly represent:
<br /> (1) That it is the owner of the following described property; that certain lot of
<br />land, with improvements thereon, situated on the north side of County St., between Effingham
<br />and Chestnut Sis., in the City of Portsmouth, State of Virginia, and known as number 808
<br />County St., the said lot being bounded by a line described as follows: Beginning at a point
<br />on the north side of Cotmty Street distsnt sixty (60) feet west of the north-west intersection
<br />of County and Effingham Streets; thence ~unning west along the n~rth side of County Street
<br />thirty-three (33) feet; thence north end parallel with Effingham Street one hundred and thir-
<br />teen (113) feet; thence Etst and parallel with County Street thirty-three (33) feet; and
<br />thence South one hundred and thirty (ll3) feet to the point of beginning on County Street; it
<br />being the same property which was conveyed to the said Lodge by the deed of American National
<br />Bank of Portsmouth, dated May t4th, 1938, and duly recorded in the Clerk's office of the Court
<br />of Hustings for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, in Deed Book 120-A, page ~03:

<br /> $37.50, is now due against the said property
<br />for the last half of the year 1938, in the name of the said bank;
<br /> (3) Tha% the said Beacon Light Lodge No. 3~ of Elks is a benevolent organization
<br />amd its activities are devoted largely to charity;
<br /> (4) That tax statement as described in Section Number two(2) of said petition is
<br />herewith attached;
<br /> Therefore, your petitioner, the said Beacon Light Lodge Number 35, of Elks, of
<br />this City, pray that your Honorable Body will grant relief from the payment of the said amount
<br />now due against the said property; and further you~ petitioner respectfully asks and requests
<br />that its property be relieved for assessment of taxes for payment to the City on the ground
<br />that its said property is not rented or used for profit and also that it is a charitable orga-
<br />nization.
