Fox, James N.Howard, H.~Earl <br />Weiseman~ Pearle J. ~ilson, George L. Grimes, mud the City Manager. <br /> <br /> The City ~anager asked uns.uimous consent, which was gra~uted, to present the <br />following resolution: <br /> <br /> "WHEREAS, the Council of-the City of Portsmouth, by a resolution <br />passed on the 13th day of september, 1938, authorized the City Mana- <br />ger to execute and file an application on behalf of the City of <br />Portsmouth, to the United States of America, for a loan and grant to <br />aid in financing the installation of a 30" cast iron water main for <br />a s~oply of water from Lake Kilby, Suffolk, Va., to Portsmouth, Va., <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is deemed desirable to amend the application to re- <br />quest a grant only, and that the City of p~rtsmo~th will supply the <br />estimated sum of $122,000.00 Out of an estzmated totsd project cost <br />of $221,818.00, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, VirgLula, that the City ~anager be and he is hereby au - <br />thorized to amend the above-mentioned application and to apply for a <br />grant only, with the u~uderstanding that the City of Portsmouth will <br />supply the estimated~sum of $122,000.00 toward the construction of <br />the project." <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Hutchins, the resolution was approved, and by the following <br />vote, subject to confirmation at the regular meeting of the Council, on December 13th, 1938: <br /> <br />Ayes: L~igh, Fox, Grimes, Howard, Hutchins, Weiseman, Wilson <br /> <br />Nays: None. <br /> <br />Approved - <br /> <br /> pres iden~. <br /> <br />City Clerk. <br /> <br /> <br />
