<br /> 2~d - ,With reference to the petition for removal of parkways on Washington
<br />Street, I beg to advise that we have removed the parkways on Two blocks, and will continue
<br />this work as fast as we can get to i~; and will keep you advised,u

<br /> 3rd - "Relative to resolution of Portsmouth Lodge Loyal Order of Moose,
<br />requesting $2,000.00 appropriation for playgrounds.
<br /> I have been in conference with a representative of the Moose, smd
<br />they will have a committee to work with me, on this project.
<br /> No appropriation will be necessary for some time yet."
<br />

<br /> Gth - "At the last meeting of the Council, ~here was referred to me a eom -
<br />munication from the Norfolk Warehouse Corporation and one from Hardin Massie, of Charlotte,
<br />N.C., which contained a proposition to turn their water front holdings over to the City, for
<br />tsxes,
<br /> There are three reasons why we can not accept°. One is that we need
<br />the money to run ~he City; second, that we would noZ be consistent because during the last
<br />Zwo years, we have t~rned dow~ several propOsitions of the same kind; third, we would be
<br />setting a preceden~ ~hat we could ~o~ live up to."

<br />Motion of Mr. Hutchins to concur in the Manager's recommendation, was adopted

<br />The following ordinance placed on its first reading at regular meeting,
<br />taken up and read:

<br />words "more than twenty years" be made to read "twenty years or more" was adopted.
