Bunting and children hkve agreed <br />to sell all the land ~f~ich they own-on Glasgow Stree~, for $350.00. This includes the high <br />lot ~5 feet wide and all the land looa~e~ ~tong the drsdno The land extends back 2~6 feet, <br />or nearly to London St. It is assessed for $250°00. <br /> I think the price is reasonable, and request thmt I be authorized <br />to complete the purchase. <br /> Yours very truly, <br /> <br />Re 0. Barclay." <br /> <br />Notion of Nr, Fox to concur in the Manager's recommendation, was adopte~o <br /> <br /> The Manager presented the' following ordinance: <br /> <br /> "ANORDINANCE A~ENDING ~EE BUILDING CODE OF TEE CITY OF <br />PORT~IOUTH BY ADDING A SE~TION-KNOWN.AS.~EOTION'125 <br /> <br />Notion of Mr. Fox to place said ordinance on i~s first reading, was adopted. <br /> <br /> 4th - "Last s~mmer, we inaugurated a playground project on ~hich we spent <br />$1,19~.~l. There seems to be a city-wide demand for <br />much larger scale. <br />- - - ~st year, the proJec~ was for boys only; the one proposed for this <br /> year would include bo~h boys and girls. This will require, in addition to the Superintendent <br /> of Playgrou~ls, a m~u and woman attendant at each place, whic~ would make a total of eleven <br /> playground employees. ~ith the cost of additional equipment, the total ex!3enditure would be <br /> $2,~00.005 and will probably be worth all it will cost° <br /> We can apply any mo~ey re~t~rned Zo us from the $500°00 subscribed, to <br /> the Fleet EntertainmentFund~ as a part of the <br /> <br /> Notion of Mr. La~ence that appropriation of $2~O0.00 be laid on table un~ <br /> til next meeting, was~adopted. <br /> <br /> 5~ - The Manager presented ~he following application for bill boards in <br /> the City~ to whiah opposition has been made: <br /> <br /> W. A~enue <br /> Oassell property, north side Old Air Line Turnpike <br /> ~00~ east of City limits <br /> Southwest corner High St. and Douglas Avenue <br /> ighsto <br /> ~69 Western Branch Bead <br /> Court St., south of Seaboard Air Line P~R tracks <br /> The City Manager has approved these sites. Any person aggrieved by <br />this 8~proval~ may file obJeetica thereto~ in w~iting, wit~ the City Manager, within eigh~ <br />days from first date of this publication. <br /> Chas. F. Ha~per, Oity Manager." <br /> <br />Privilege of the floor was gran.ted anyone interested. <br /> <br /> Mr. Ha~ry Cuthriell spoke for the bill boards, and Mrs. Womble and Mr. Olile <br />P.
