ADril 22, 1996 <br /> <br /> At a Called Meeting of the City Council held on Monday, <br />April 22, 1996, there were present: <br /> <br /> Mayor Gloria O. Webb, *Vice Mayor Johnny M. Clemons, <br />Bernard D. Griffin, Sr., *Ja~es C. Hawks, James T. Martin, <br />Cameron C. Pitts, *P. Ward Robinett, Jr., Johnna R. Whitaker, <br />Deputy City Manager, G. Timothy Oksman, City Attorney. <br /> <br />96-148 - The following call for the meeting was read: <br /> <br /> "Please attend a Called Meeting of the City Council to <br />be held in the City Council Chamber, 6th floor of City Hall, <br />801 Crawford Street, at 5:00 p.m., Monday, April 22, 1996, <br />for the purpose of a Public Work Session. <br /> <br /> In addition, you may consider a motion to go into an <br />Executive Session. <br /> <br />By order of the Mayor." <br /> <br />96-149 - The following items were discussed in the Public <br />Work Session: <br /> <br />1. Proposed Operating Budget <br /> <br />2. Capital Improvement Plan <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Martin, to <br />go into Executive Session pursuant to provisions of Section <br />2.1-344 of the Code of Virginia for the following: <br /> <br /> (1) Discussion or consideration of the condition, <br />acquisition or use of real property for a public purpose, or <br />the disposition of publicly held property, as permitted by <br />Subsection (A) (3). <br /> <br /> (2) The investing of public funds where competition or <br />bargaining is involved where, if made public initially, the <br />financial interest of the City would be adversely affected, <br />as Permitted by Subsection (A) (6). <br /> <br /> (3) Discussion or consideration of specific legal <br />matters requiring the provision of legal advice by counsel, <br />as permitted by Subsection (A) (7). <br /> <br />The motion was adopted by a vote of 6-0. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mr. Robinett, and seconded by Mr. Pitts, <br />pursuant to Section 2.1-344.1 of the Code of Virginia <br />certifying that to the best of the Council member's knowledge <br />during the immediately preceding Executive Session of the <br />City Council: <br /> <br /> (1) Only public business matters lawfully exempted from <br />open meeting requirements by the Virginia Freedom of <br />Information Act, and <br /> <br /> <br />
