<br /> The ~oliowing communications from the 0ity Manager were ~ead:

<br /> 1st - "Chestnut St. between Randolph and Lincoln is onl~ 27.8 ft. wide. We
<br />should w~den this street to 60 ft. to correspond with the width of the stree$ on each side
<br />of this blcck.
<br /> ~e property belongs to R. B. Albertson, and h~ owes back ts~es of
<br />$761.28 on this strip of land and a small strip adjoining, which he also owns.
<br /> Mr. Barclay, the City Attorney, has.reached an agreement with Mr. A1-
<br />bertson that he will deed this strip to the City, with a clear title, provided the City will
<br />relieve him of the aforementioned delineuent taxes.
<br /> I went over the ~remises with Mr. Barclay and I believe it will be to
<br />the City's advantage to O.K. Mr. Barclay's agreement ~th~Mro Albertson, and I so recommend."

<br />Notion of Mr. Lawrence to concur in the Manager's recommend~tion, was adopted.

<br /> 2nd ~ "For seveEal weeks, the Oity Attorney has been negotiating the purchase
<br /> of certain low lots in the branch, adjoining and west of the stadium property~ withou$ success
<br /> We are both convinced that we will have to institute condemnation pro-
<br /> ceedings, but before doing this, the law requires that we shll make an offer for each piece
<br /> of property separately.
<br /> The City Attorney ~ud Manager have viewed each p~ece of property and
<br />~checked them with the map, and I recommend to the Council tha~ the City Attorney be~authorized
<br /> to make offers in %he name of the City, as per the a~tached itemized lis$, which I will now
<br /> read to you."

<br /> "~rHEREAS, it is deemed desirable-and expedient for the City to
<br />acquire certain land owned by the following persons for playground and recrea-
<br />tional purposes
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BEiT RESOLVED BY THE COUNOIL OF THE CiTY OF
<br />PORTSMOUTH, that the City Attorney be and he is hereby authorized~and directed
<br />to offer to the following owners the following sums of money for the land
<br />sired to~ acquired by theCity for the above purposes and more fully described
<br />on a plat on file in the office of the City Engineer of this City, namely:

<br />south side of Glasgow St~ and extending back its full depth to Scotts Creek,
