<br />Series E Savings Bonds.

<br /> Notion of Mr. Hutchins to refer said matter to the City Manager for plan of
<br />action, was adopted.

<br />3rd - Presented the following resolution:
<br />
<br /> "BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of ~ortsmouth,
<br />Virginia, that in order for ~he State Highway Commissioner to se-
<br />cure Federal funds and pave with concrete and widen the roadway
<br />of the Gosport B~ad from Seventh Street to the City limits to a
<br />width of forty feet, the City Will acquire the necessary land to
<br />widen the Gospor~ Road to-a .width of sixty fee~, and to seeure
<br />for the State Highway Commissioner the right of entry on the land
<br />necessary for the pav6~ent and drainage, and the Chief Engineer
<br />of the City is directed ~o immediately notify the State Highway
<br />Commissioner of this action of the City Council.
<br /> And Be it Further Resolved, that the City Manager is di-
<br />rected to take the necessary s tops to acquire the land for .the
<br />widenin~ of ~he Gosport Road, and if the same can be acquired
<br />without undue expense, the land between the Gosport Road and Key
<br />Avenue, and the sum of Eighteen Thousand Dollars is hereby appro-
<br />priated for ~t purpose."

<br />$18,000. on its ~rst reading, was adopted, and by the following vote:

<br />for the addition to the Lincoln St. fire engine house.
<br /> This is necessary on account-of increased cost of labor and material,
<br />since the estimated cost of ~50.00 was placed in the budget, and I recommend that an additional
<br />appropriation not exceeding $100. O0 be made.~'
