<br /> · We, the members of the Portsmou~ Oity Council, do hereby acknowledge no
<br />rice of the called meeting of the City Council to be held on February 3rd~ 1942, at 7:00
<br />o'clock P.M., at the City Oouncil Chamber, and we unanimously consent to the holding of such
<br />meeting for the purpose of considering the Government allotment for the Fire Department im -
<br />provements and to act upon the resignation of the City Manager and the ~npointment~ of a rem -
<br />porary City Manager, or the appointmen$ of a person to sign vouchers, payrolls, and perform
<br />other duties of the Ci~y Manager, and to consider such other matters as may come before the
<br />body.

<br /> "It is with deeo regret that I respectfully request you to relieve me of
<br />the office of City Manager immediately.
<br /> The splendid support and friendship of the Council and the people m~e
<br />this ah ard decision~ but my physician advises that I must immediately take some rest and be
<br />relieved of ~he duties of City Manager.~
