years To every four years. The assessors for 1930 were elected by the Council and their compen-I <br />sation fixed at $4,000. each. <br /> The two' assessors for 193~ were appointed by the Court. At that time <br />of depression, there had been a reduction in. the pay of all city emoloyees~of about 20~ and in <br />conformity with this rule the assessors were paid $3,200., 20~ less-than tne usual ~,OOO. <br /> The appropriation ~ r the 1938 assessment was made for the same amount <br />as that for 193~, however, the court appointed three assessors who only received ~2~600. each <br />for their services. <br /> Because of the needs of the City, due to the present emergency, and <br />th~ unusual quantity of new construction, additions and improvements, it is apparent to all tha~ <br />the assessment to be made tr~s year will be the most important ever held in our City. <br /> The u_udersigned assessors believe that on accounto f the increasing <br />cost of necessities and in lieu of the custom in ~he past as outlined ~?oove, that they should <br />receive as a fitting compensation for their work $4,000. each and request the Council to arrange <br />for that award.
