May 12th, ~1942.~ <br /> <br />County, <br /> <br />thence east tO siXth St., thence north to Madison St., to <br />Seventh, to Goeport Road and return via the same route. <br />This line would enable passengers from suburbs to travel <br />to other s~ourbs without going'all the way downtown to <br />transfer. <br /> <br />2. That all buses be required to have the same schedule on <br /> Sunday morning as on other mornings of the week. <br /> <br /> J.N. Howard <br /> Co E.~Yarren <br /> Russell M. Hall <br /> - re.mitres." <br /> On motion of Mr. Fox, said report was adopted. <br /> <br /> On motion of Mr. Fox~ the following resolution was adopted: <br /> <br /> "WHEREAS, during the past few months, the school teachers of the City <br /> of Portsmouth have given generously of their time and energy in set- <br /> ting uo the machinery for rationing, under the supervision of Mr. H.A. <br /> Hunt, Bupt. of Schools° In addition, a number of volunteers assisted <br /> in ~is work and were ably supervised by the principals in the various <br /> schools, ~nd <br /> WHE-~EAS, the Civiliah Defense, under the direction of Mr. J.L.Smith, <br /> has made most notable strides in creating a large organization ~r the <br /> protection of our citizens, <br /> WHEREAS, the Tire Rationing Board, with Mr. Davia F.Gwynn has per - <br /> formed a most difficult task with credit to themselves and with a <br /> minimum of inconvenience to the public, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLED that T~he Council of Portsmouth hereby <br /> p · <br /> commends the teachers in the ublmc Schools, the v~lunteers, Mr.J.L. <br /> Smith , 0ivilian Defense Co-Ordinator, the Tire Rationing Board, and <br /> expresses its thmnks for a public service se efficiently performed." <br /> <br /> Motion of Mr. Fox to adjourn to meet with the Board of Supervisors of Norfolk <br />in an executive session, on ferry matters, was adopted. <br /> <br /> CityO!erk. <br /> <br /> Approved <br /> [;,~President. <br /> <br /> <br />
